Sacred Honor: The 56 Men Who Signed Their Lives Away
We know their signatures. We forgot their stories.
Fifty-six men signed the Declaration of Independence. They pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor, and for many of them, that pledge came due. Homes were burned. Fortunes were lost. Sons were captured or killed. Some died before they ever saw the freedom they signed for.
Sacred Honor restores those stories. Written to mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration, it profiles all 56 signers, colony by colony: who they were, what they risked, and what it cost them. This is not a book of marble statues. It is a book of husbands, fathers, and neighbors who made an impossible choice and paid for it in full.
Founder Todd Sharkey wrote Sacred Honor as both a work of history and a teaching tool, designed to be read alone or read aloud, around a table, with the next generation listening. Because a free people that forgets the price of its freedom will not keep it long.
